Carlos Stewart named 2020-21 MaxPreps Louisiana High School Basketball Player of the Year
Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2020-21 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence, in addition to local and state accolades.

Carlos Stewart of Dunham (Baton Rouge) is the 2020-21 MaxPreps Louisiana High School Basketball Player of the Year. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound senior helped the Tigers go 18-11 en route to the program's second consecutive state crown.

Stewart averaged 33 points, five rebounds and four assists per game while shooting 55 percent from the field and 44 percent from 3-point range.

In Dunham's 52-48 Division III state championship game victory over Newman (New Orleans), Stewart tallied 28 points and 10 rebounds, including nine of team's final 10 points to overcome a late deficit.

Stewart is a Santa Clara commit. He also received offers from Coastal Carolina, Louisiana, New Orleans, TCU, Tulane and UAB.

Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April 13.

Start dates for high school baseball/softball in all 50 states - OFFICIAL
Start dates for high school baseball/softball in all 50 states
High school baseball and softball seasons have always had staggered start dates among the 50 states, but COVID-19 has made the differences even more pronounced.

States that have an early February start date, such as Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Texas, are business as usual and have already begun play. However, some states that normally get started in late March have postponed start dates until mid- to late-April. Maryland may have the most delayed start date as it won't start until April 29.

At least five states have yet to determine a start or finish date, including Hawaii and four other Northeastern states.

Following are the start and state tournament dates for baseball and softball in each state as released by the state associations.
